Midsize Friendly Outfits for Summer
Outfits of the Week from Early June 2023
This past week was fairly mellow and so needed! I spent my days with my friends, taking it easy at work, and just living my best life overall. I also had a date and did a bit of shopping to expand my summer wardrobe a bit. As a fashion creator, my goal is to always have the latest trends incorporated with my personal style. While you should never feel like you need to go out and buy the latest thing, it’s always nice to refresh your closet here and there and I hope my styling ideas aid in that!
Summer Date Night Outfit
Starting the week off strong we have the cutest summer date night outfit. While the date did not go as planned (he was Mormon, yikes!) I did do a great job bowling. I think part of my success was this fit, I wore a cute pink tank that has a bit of pizazz with basic denim shorts. Sometimes a more simplistic outfit is the move when deciding on a going out outfit. Alongside the outfit itself I accessorized with what I call my bowling shoes. They are a Velcro sneaker from Veja that are quite comfortable and tied in nicely with the pink in my top. To top off the look, I wore my Gucci handbag. I love showing the real me on a first date and reminding the guys I’m with that I’m a girly girl with expensive taste!
Oversized Graphic Tee Outfit
If there is one thing you can count on with me it’s my deep seated love of graphic tees. I got this one from Urban Outfitters last week and I love how oversized and comfortable it is. Plus it has Blink 182 on it which is just fun to me! When looking for a band tee at Urban, I suggest finding one labeled a tee shirt dress. That is how you get that oversized vibe and end up comfortable as possible. To let the tee stand out, I styled it with some basic biker shorts and sneakers. This is a midsize girl staple outfit and for good reason. It is comfortable, easy to move around in, and looks pulled together every time. Depending on your personal style and how much you like color, you can also style this with a bright biker short in purple or red.
Flared Leggings Outfit
As we headed into the weekend, we hit a series of thunderstorms so long pants and comfy outfits were the move! I have adored this pair of flare leggings from Urban Outfitters for awhile, the color is unique and the comfortability is top tier. To keep the outfit on the chill side, I styled it with a simple white shirt and an oversized denim jacket. If you are worried about hip dips, I recommend subbing the fitted tee for an oversized band tee. This won’t look frumpy because you have the fitted thigh area so you aren’t swallowed up by the extra fabric. Remember, the key to any good outfit is balance!
Overalls Outfit
So I just got these overalls this past week and I am completely obsessed with them. I love the color of the denim and the material is incredibly comfortable. I personally got mine in a size M and I surprisingly have a lot of room in the hips. If you are pregnant, this is a great find because it’s very loose in the belly area. To make the overalls the star of the outfit, I added that same white cropped tee. I wasn’t expecting to like this basic layering piece so much this summer but it’s been incredibly versatile and easy to wear! Finally to complete the outfit I added my new platform sandals. They are not for the faint of heart but I love how they are a neutral and keep the bottoms from dragging on the ground. These may not be petite friendly!
Pride Outfit
To end the week I went to my first Pride festival! I have been an ally for many years now but this was the first June where my schedule worked out to actually attend Pride. For an event like this, I didn’t want to go all out and steal the thunder from legitimate community members. Instead, I wanted to give an homage to the rainbow and wore a basic white bodysuit and white denim shorts with a colorful duster. The third piece is technically a swimsuit coverup that has a subtle nod to the 60s but it’s simple enough to wear with everyday attire. I will say I got pretty warm in the outfit after spending some time in the sun but I was overall thrilled with how the outfit turned out. Oh, and I finished off the look with white sneakers for walking around and a holographic handbag to further nod to the rainbow!
